Eryri Night Races

The Night Races are a series of informal, score-style events that take place in various built up areas across North West Wales. These are a great opportunity to get out and enjoy the darker season of winter, and can also be a great place to begin your orienteering career as there will be members available to talk you through all the details and techniques that you need to know.

All events start with a mass start at 7pm, and competitors have one hour to visit as many control points as possible in order to get the highest possible score by choosing their own routes. You will be provided with a map and clue sheet.

We use two methods for recording which controls you have visited on your run, pen-and-paper or the Maprun app on a phone or Garmin/Apple watch. If you choose to use the pen-and-paper method you will need to bring a waterproof pen and watch. If you are using the MapRun app you will need to download the app to your phone, and optionally a Garmin watch, using the link below. Then, prior to each event, download the events course file in the MapRun app.
